A Collingwood superfan has entered a plea after he was charged with sexually abusing a teenage boy more than a decade ago.

What happens after a sexual assault?

A Collingwood AFL icon and one of the team’s most-recognised fans will go to trial after he was charged with sexually assaulting a teenage boy more than a decade ago.

Magpies enthusiast Jeffrey “Joffa” Corfe was arrested earlier this year and charged with two counts of sexual penetration of a minor.

Police allege Mr Corfe twice sexually abused a boy, who was under the age of 16, in Melbourne in 2005.

The Collingwood fan appeared in the Melbourne Magistrates Court via video link on Wednesday for a committal hearing.

The 61-year-old pleaded not guilty at the end of the hearing when asked to enter a plea.

The court was closed while the alleged victim gave evidence against him for most of the morning.

It resumed with evidence from the alleged victim’s friend who said the man disclosed to him he was sexually abused when he was about 14 or 15.

The friend told the court the alleged victim initially said he was assaulted at the hands of a friend’s brother but months later revealed it was someone else.

“Later on he disclosed it wasn’t the case … it was Joffa,” the man told the court.

He said he didn’t remember why his friend didn’t tell him the identity of the man who allegedly assaulted him straight away.

“He was perhaps more comfortable disclosing the identity of the perpetrator at that time,” he told the court.

The alleged victim did not follow the AFL and he had also shown him a photo of Mr Corfe after searching it online, the friend said.

The alleged victim started chatting to Mr Corfe on MSN messenger and told police he was sexually assaulted at the man’s home, according to court documents.

Mr Corfe will face a directions hearing at the County Court of Victoria next year and remains on bail.
