New tool tocombat stolencar crisis

The QPS this week launched its stolen vehicles public portal, which allows residents to search for cars reported stolen in any location in Queensland.QPS deputy commissioner Shane Chelepy said the greater access to information, which was updated daily, would “empower” the Toowoomba community to assist police.“Information from the public plays a crucial part in investigations, and this gives the community greater tools to tell police the active movements of stolen vehicles and the actions of those behind the wheel,” he said. There are currently nine cars reported stolen and unaccounted for across the Toowoomba, Oakey, Westbrook and Highfields areas.
