Triple murderer Erin Patterson told her online friends she resented her estranged husband for not helping her with household chores.
In scathing messages obtained by the Herald Sun, Patterson complained to her Facebook mates about Simon Patterson’s laziness.
Patterson, who used an image of a witch as her profile photo, claimed she was forced to hire a cleaner because he “never” helped her with the cleaning.
“I’ve had a cleaner come once a fortnight for the last 18 months,” she wrote.
“My husband has no idea we have a cleaner come. I love it.
“Now I don’t resent the fact that he never helps me with anything because I’m not doing the big jobs either.
“She washes bathrooms and dunnies, mops and vacuums, and changes the bed linen and it transforms the house.
“Now all I have to resent him over are the nightly dishes.”
In other messages, Patterson spoke about borrowing Simon’s ute to relocate books from her mother’s home in NSW.
“He thought I was going to put them all in boxes then in the back of his ute but I forgot to buy moving boxes before we went up so I just stuffed about a thousand books into the back of his ute not in boxes just loose,” she wrote.
“So we get back and he’s like ‘lemme help you get the boxes out the back’. Sorry. You’ll get your ute back Friday after I take the books out one by one.”
This week, Patterson was found guilty of murdering Simon’s parents Don and Gail Patterson, his aunt Heather Wilkinson and attempting to murder his uncle Ian Wilkinson.
Patterson deliberately poisoned their beef wellington meal with death cap mushrooms when she invited them to her Leongatha home for lunch on July 29, 2023.
During her mammoth murder trial, the jury heard the pair married in 2007 before they called it quits in 2015.
They remained friends until October 2022 when a dispute arose about child support.
In her testimony, Patterson’s online friend Daniela Barkley told the jury the mother of two “wasn’t happy” about the cleanliness of Simon’s home.
“She didn’t want the kids to sleep over there at night because she wasn’t happy with the way he lived,” she said.
Another friend, Christine Hunt, told the court Patterson described Simon as “coercive” and controlling”.
“I understood that she was self-sufficient, although she had some concerns about him paying his share is how you would put it and that he was very controlling,” she said.
“She had used the word ‘coercive’ at times and also that his family were very demanding and that she was really challenged by their demands and particularly around the kids attending a faith-based education.
“She didn’t like it. The demands that were put on around taking the kids away … she seemed unsettled whenever the kids were away.”
