Inside the courtroom: Mushroom cook Erin Patterson faces court for day 5 of murder trial

Several people who were friends with Erin Patterson in an online true crime forum have detailed her “love” of mushrooms and her reputation as an internet sleuth.

Simon Patterson has returned to the witness box to continue giving evidence as the high-profile trial of his estranged wife enters its second week.

Erin Patterson is accused of murdering her former in-laws, Don and Gail Patterson, as well as Gail’s sister, Heather Wilkinson, with a deadly mushroom meal at her Leongatha home on July 29, 2023.

She is also accused of the attempted murder of Heather’s husband, Ian Wilkinson, who survived the meal.

Ms Patterson has pleaded not guilty to all charges, claiming what happened was a “terrible accident”.
