Woman had large amount of drugs and $11,500 cash, Toowoomba police claim

A 40-year-old woman had been found with large amounts of drugs and more than $11,000 in cash, Toowoomba police claim.
Sandra Helen Spijkers had been pulled over by police while driving in Toowoomba on Thursday, Toowoomba Magistrates Court was told.
Police claimed a search of her car had turned up 700g of the illicit drug fantasy, 18g of methylamphetamine, almost 4g of heroin along with prescriptions drugs including suboxone.
Police also allege $11,560 in cash was found in her car.
Spijkers spent the night in the watch house before appearing in court where her solicitor Alysha Jacobsen, of Bouchier Khan Lawyers, applied for bail.
Ms Jacobsen said her client had only recently bought the car and she would be contesting the charges.
Her client lived in Warwick with her parents but had been in Toowoomba visiting friends but if part of her bail required she would stay out of Toowoomba, she submitted.
Her client was quite ill and under treatment and it could take up to six months to have the alleged drugs analysed, Ms Jacobsen said.
However, objecting to the bail application, police prosecutor Julia Wheaton said Spijkers was already on bail for similar charges arising from her allegedly being found with a large amount of meth and $4000 cash in her handbag.
On this occasion the 40-year-old had been the sole occupant in the vehicle where the drugs and cash were found, Senior Constable Wheaton said.
Magistrate Howard Osborne said given the amount of drugs alleged and that she was already on bail for serious matters, he would refuse bail and remanded Spijkers in custody to appear back in court on February 5.
