IN WHAT a Toowoomba magistrate described as a very serious example of domestic violence, a 23-year-old man assaulted his ex-partner, trashed her apartment and threatened her with revenge porn.

The man, who cannot be named, had gone to his ex-partner’s Mt Lofty home on June 6 and an argument had arisen, Toowoomba Magistrates Court heard.

He threatened to trash her unit and then did so, smashing doors and property.

He had then thrown a bong at the woman which smashed on impact, cutting her arm which sustained a 3.5cm cut.

It was only when he saw the blood that the 23-year-old called for an ambulance, police prosecutor Rowan Brewster-Webb told the court.

After that incident, a domestic violence order was imposed which prohibited the man from having any contact with the woman.

So scared was she by the incident, she relocated to the Beenleigh area, the court heard.

However, the man had pursued her, threatening to post a naked photo of the woman on social media if she or her friends didn’t tell him where she was now living.

When he eventually found out and went to her new home, she had hidden in a closet in fear of him, the court heard.

He appeared by video link from the prison to plead guilty to assault occasioning bodily harm, wilful damage, possessing cannabis and a bong and obstructing police.

Magistrate Graham Lee declared the 68 days pre-sentence custody as time served and sentenced the man to nine months in jail to be released on parole forthwith and to six months jail wholly suspended for 12 months.
