A 49-YEAR-OLD Toowoomba man who has endured a “significant drug problem” was at last seeking help, the city’s Magistrates Court heard.
Jeffrey Richard Moyes had tested positive for amphetamine and cannabis after being pulled over while driving on West St about 2am, September 28, police prosecutor Julia Wheaton told the court.
Checks of his licence found it had expired two hours earlier and a search of his car turned up three syringes, one with liquid in it that he said was meth.
Moyes had also been found with 1.26g of cannabis on May 22, and when pulled over on James St about 1am, July 8, he was found with 21.2g of cannabis which he said he used to control pain from surgeries.
Three syringes were also found in the car.
He pleaded guilty to all charges.
His solicitor Alanna O’Hallaoran, of TASC, told the court her client had a significant drug problem but he was now engaged with AODS (Alcohol and Other Drugs Service).
Her client had broken his legs in a fall from a roof and suffered pain, she said.
Magistrate Graham Lee placed Moyes on eight months probation to include drug testing, disqualified him from driving for four months but ordered the convictions not be recorded.
