Toowoomba man begged cops to give him his ‘weed’ back
After a knife fell from his pants, Toowoomba police did a pat down search of the 22-year-old during which his stash of cannabis was found.

A 22-YEAR-OLD man caught by Toowoomba police with a bag of cannabis had begged cops to give him his weed back as he intended to smoke it later, the city’s Magistrates Court has been told.
Police patrolling Toowoomba’s CBD about 5.15am, July 24, had come across Lachlan Paul Cash and another man on Waters St near the James St intersection, the court heard.
While speaking to the pair, Cash had dropped a bladed knife from the front of his trousers which landed on the ground, police prosecutor Rowan Brewster-Webb told the court.
Police then conducted a pat-down search of the 22-year-old during which they found a bag containing 6.7g of cannabis which he said he intended smoking later.
When police seized the bag, Cash had begged them to give him the cannabis back, Mr Brewster-Webb said.
About 7.30pm, August 7, a drug effected Cash had driven into the driveway of a Goodna residence, telling the resident that he knew him although the resident told him he did not know him, the court heard.
When the resident said he’d call police, Cash had run off but police tracked the car’s registration to the 22-year-old’s father.
Inside the car police found a cone piece used to smoke cannabis and scales for weighing drug, Mr Brewster-Webb said.
Then, on September 11 about 6pm, police were called to a Highfields residence where a drug effected Cash was causing a disturbance.
He had kicked out at police and struggled with officers when arrested, the court heard.
Due to his condition he was taken to Toowoomba Hospital, Mr Brewster-Webb said.
Cash pleaded guilty to all charges arising from those incidents.
His solicitor Chelsea Seldombide told the court her client had been unemployed and doing drugs at the time but he had since cleaned himself up, was receiving drug counselling and was about to start a new job.
Magistrate Kay Ryan noted Cash had no criminal history and fined him $1200 with no convictions recorded.
