The three were among up to five in the allegedly stolen car which crashed into another car driven by a 75-year-old man who had a 12-year-old passenger.

THREE teenagers accused of crashing a stole car in Toowoomba on Friday have been denied bail and remanded in custody.

Police claim the three 16-year-olds were among four or five juveniles in a stolen car that collided with another vehicle driven by a 75-year-old man with a 12-year-old passenger on Greenwattle St about 3.15pm Friday.

The cars collided with such force that the 75-year-old’s car was sent into a spin while the allegedly stolen vehicle ended up crashing into a house.

“They all ran off without staying to see how the others were,” police prosecutor Sergeant Tim Hutton told the court when objecting to the juveniles bail applications before the Toowoomba Children’s Court this morning.

Noone was reported physically injured in the crash.

A police dog squad was called to track the alleged offenders.

Each of three 16-year-olds were already on bail for other charges including one teen who is yet to appear before the Children’s Court of Queensland, the juvenile equivalent of the District Court, on a charge of robbery.

“He is absolutely a serious risk of reoffending,” Sgt Hutton said of that teenager and was scathing of the group in his objection to bail.

“They are doing whatever they want whenever they want,” he said.

No family members of the trio were in court for the bail applications.

The three were not required to enter pleas to charges arising from the incident including unlawful use of a motor vehicle, leaving the scene of a crash and breaching bail.

Solicitor Joe Millican, for one boy, said his client would not be applying for bail and sought an adjournment.

Duty solicitor Jag MacDonald, of MacDonald Law, applied for bail on behalf of the other two children who appeared by video from the watch house.

Mr MacDonald said his clients would abide by strict bail conditions.

However, Magistrate Howard Osborne said the children were already on strict bail conditions which they were not abiding by and suggested there was nothing extra he could impose that would guarantee they kept to their bail conditions.

Mr Osborne refused bail and remanded the three in custody to appear before the Children’s Court later this month.
