A WOMAN who had only obtained her driver’s licence last month after seven years without it has been disqualified from driving for three months by the court.
Tashina Lee Coveney was seen by a police patrol to cross double white lines on Stenner St, Darling Heights, and drive into a service station about 8.10pm, July 21, Toowoomba Magistrates Court heard.
Police approached the car to speak with her and she admitted she had no licence and had not held one for some time, police prosecutor Shelby Larcombe told the court.
A check of her driving record found her licence had expired on September 9, 2013, she said.
The 37-year-old was again caught driving without a licence on O’Brien St, Harlaxton, about 8.20pm, August 18, the court heard.
She self represented Coveney pleaded guilty to two counts of driving without a licence repeat offender and to failing to keep left of two continuous dividing lines.
She told the court that she now had her driver’s licence back.
However, Magistrate Howard Osborne explained the unlicensed driving offences brought mandatory periods of licence disqualification effective immediately and that she could not drive home from court.
Mr Osborne fined Coveney a total $750 and disqualified her from holding or obtaining a driver’s licence for three months.
