Police fined 16 carnival operators after they crossed border at Goondiwindi
SIXTEEN carnival operators who travelled from Victoria have been fined for entering the state on incorrect border declarations.

Police intercepted the Victorian carnival operators travelling through the Goondiwindi checkpoint on October 5, displaying a freight declaration pass.
Upon further investigations, officers from Taskforce Sierra Linnet deemed the group failed to meet strict conditions attached to the freight declaration pass criteria.
The group who were identified by police at Mackay Showgrounds were directed into quarantine on Wednesday.
Queensland Health conducted rapid response testing and all persons returned a negative result.
The group had declared they would travel into Queensland for the purpose of delivering show rides to the Rockhampton Showgrounds.
However following investigations, police will allege the group intended to stay in the state and operate show rides at various Queensland locations.
The group are currently travelling towards the Queensland/New South Wales border to leave the State of Queensland.
All 16 Victorians were fined $4,003 for failing to comply with the COVID-19 Border Direction.
Since Saturday, August 8, 128 people have been issued penalty infringement notices for failing to comply with COVID-19 Border Directions and 497 people have been refused entry to Queensland.
The Queensland Police Service is committed to ensuring everyone complies with public health directions and will continue to enforce restrictions at the border.
Providing false information on the declaration or entering Queensland unlawfully could result in a $4,003 fine.
