Six people experienced the indignity of being arrested and held in custody on Christmas Day and appeared in Toowoomba Magistrates Court this morning.

Nathian Clint Washington, 46, was accused of trying to enter a dwelling and a premises early Christmas evening and when asked to leave he allegedly produced a knife and screwdriver.

Police claim that when two officers found him near a Holberton St residence he had allegedly approached them with a knife.

He was not required to enter pleas to two counts of serious assault of police while armed, attempting to enter a dwelling and attempting to enter a premises, obstructing police and public nuisance.

Magistrate Andry Cridland refused bail and remanded Washington in custody to appear in court for mention by video link from the prison on January 27.

* Christopher James Harvey, 57, was sentenced to one month in jail, wholly suspended for 14 months, after pleading guilty to breaching a court order.

He had been placed on probation in November after pleading guilty to driving with a breath/alcohol reading of 0.444 on Bridge St, Wilsonton.

Part of his order was that he was not to be above 0.05 when with his partner but police found him on Christmas Eve and breath tested him at 0.336, police prosecutor Sergeant Tim Hutton told the court.

* A 31-year-old Newtown man was taken into custody after an argument with his partner about 7pm, Christmas Day.

He pleaded guilty to breaching a domestic violence order and was placed on 12 months probation.

* Rowan David Leitch was granted bail to appear back in the same court on January 13 on a breach of court orders.

* Hyouga Izumida remained in the watch house and was not brought into court with duty solicitor Brad Skuse asking for an adjournment to Monday when a Japanese interpreter can be available to appear in court. He was remanded in custody.

* Similarly, Gaurav Kumar, 48, asked that his case be adjourned so a Hindi interpreter could be available in court. He was remanded in custody.
