NAMED: Drink drivers appearing before Toowoomba Magistrates Court

Driving to find his nephew who had been riding bikes in the bush has cost a Toowoomba man his licence and his job.

A 46-YEAR-OLD man has paid dearly for driving his car when searching for his nephew who had been out riding bikes.

Terrance Addison Saw had been pulled over by police while driving on Goldmine Road at Seventeen Mile in the Lockyer Valley about 3.30pm, October 23, Toowoomba Magistrates Court heard.

He blew a breath/alcohol reading of 0.118.

The court heard Saw had been driving to find his nephew who had been riding bikes in the region.

Due to the loss of licence, he was also likely to lose his job, the court heard.

Saw pleaded guilty to drink-driving and was fined $600 and disqualified from holding or obtaining a driver’s licence for three months.

Also pleading guilty to drink driving were:

* LISA Monique Hedges, 55, taxi driver, was fined $600, disqualified five months (work licence granted) conviction not recorded, after pleading guilty to driving with a breath/alcohol reading of 0.108, in the carpark of the Portadown Hotel on October 20.

* ALAN George Singleton was fined $350, disqualified one month, no conviction recorded, breath/alcohol reading 0.076, Jennings St, September 14.
