Hospital disturbance leaves mother of three on probation, community service

ASSAULTING a Toowoomba Hospital security officer and yelling abuse during a drunken tirade has left a mother of three with probation and community service to complete.
Renee Danielle Grimley had been detained at the hospital for observation due to her level of intoxication in the early hours of the morning.
However, when she went to leave, a security officer stepped in to stop her but she had become angry, told him to “f*** off” and then pushed him in the face with her hand, Toowoomba Magistrates Court heard.
She had called the security officers derogatory names when they placed her into a secure room, police prosecutor Sergeant Natalie Bugden said.
The 34-year-old was taken to the watch house where she was breath tested at 0.129 alcohol level, she said.
Grimley pleaded guilty to serious assault of a public officer and public nuisance.
Sgt Bugden said the defendant had a offences of violence in her criminal history including a conviction for wounding for which she was handed a term of imprisonment.
Defence solicitor Alysha Jacobsen handed to the court a letter of apology from her client.
Her client had a history of mental health issues and she had been under stress at the time due to family problems, she said.
Magistrate Howard Osborne placed her on 12 months probation and ordered she do 80 hours community service.
