A 27-YEAR-OLD mother of one who said she had started using drugs at age 12 has been placed under the strict supervision of parole and probation to help get her away from drugs.

Samantha Delaney had been with another woman on January 6 when they went to a Bridge St fast food outlet.

The counter attendant was packing the food when she identified Delaney as being banned from the store and asked her to leave.

Delaney had become angry and swore at the woman before picking up a plastic stand and throwing at the woman, hitting her on the ankle and smashing on the floor, Toowoomba Magistrates Court heard.

Police called to the incident identified the defendant on the store’s CCTV footage, police prosecutor Shelby Larcombe said.

On February 10, the 27-year-old was found with a car reported stolen from outside KFC in Stenner St.

She told police she had been a passenger in the car and a search of her found a silver bracelet that was reported stolen with the car and 0.1g of crystal which she said was “rock” (meth), Ms Larcombe said.

She was also found with 1.2g of cannabis during a police search of a Kearneys Spring home on February 7, the court heard.

Delaney pleaded guilty to all charges.

Her solicitor Brad Skuse, of David Burns Lawyers, told the court his client had a 12-year-old daughter who lived with his client’s mother who was in court supporting her.

His client instructed she had started using meth at 12, he said.

Magistrate Kay Ryan sentenced Delaney to six months in jail but ordered she be released immediately on parole and placed her on 18 months probation.
