Clouded judgment from alcohol had led to a young Toowoomba man driving his friends home only to blow a breath/alcohol reading of 0.177.

Noah Francis Provan, 22, had been drinking with friends at his home on the night of October 4, Toowoomba Magistrates Court heard.

However, late in the evening his friends had wanted to go home and, under clouded judgment from the alcohol, he decided to drive them, his solicitor Ryan McCullough, of MacDonald Law, told the court.

Having dropped his mates off, the 22-year-old was driving back to his home when he crashed into a parked vehicle about 10.30pm.

Fortunately, no-one was injured in the incident but his client’s car had been significantly damaged and he was now walking the 30 minutes or so to work, he said.

His client had been without his driver’s licence since that night, Mr McCullough submitted.

Magistrate Howard Osborne fined Provan $1200 and disqualified him from holding or obtaining a driver’s licence for 12 months.
