When police arrested the alleged driver in a failed child abduction plot, he was too intoxicated to be formally charged, so officers took him to the Toowoomba Hospital to sober up.

A MAN who police allege was the getaway driver in a child abduction on Thursday was granted bail after spending the weekend in the watchhouse.
The Toowoomba Magistrates Court heard allegations Al Remi Abraham attended a Toowoomba home with two women, about 7.45am and demanded the occupants hand over two children.
In opposing Abraham’s bail prosecutor Leea Trewin said police will allege he stood by as one woman threatened the occupants with a taser while the other removed a child.
The court heard police located at the trio at the College View McDonald’s a short time later.
“(Abraham) was so intoxicated he could not be processed at the watch house and had to be taken to the Toowoomba Hospital,” Ms Trewin said.
Ms Trewin added that police found illegal drugs and fireworks in the car.
Police charged Abraham with seven offences including forcible entry, threatening violence by discharging a firearm and unlawful possession of a weapon.
Defence solicitor Sarah-Jane MacDonald said Abraham was unaware of the women’s intentions or the custody issues at play at the time of the alleged offence.
Magistrate Kay Ryan granted Abraham’s bail, noting his dated criminal history, a possible lengthy delay in finalising the matters and his history of mental illness.
Abraham did not enter a plea and is due back in Toowoomba Magistrates Court on December 17.
