The court was told that between February 12 and 13 two Suzukis were reported stolen from a Grenier Street address, the same location where a Range Rover had been stolen about a month prior.

Following reports of the Range Rover driving dangerously, including doing burnouts near Toowoomba police station, the court was told police attended a Toowoomba address where the stolen vehicles were found, as well as Doidge.

After his arrest the court was told Doidge told police “I don’t give a f---, charge me”.

Despite being released on bail, the court was told Doidge was once again involved in the theft of cars just over a week later.

Mr Brewster-Webb said a Volkswagen Amarok was taken from a Newtown address on the evening of February 21.

In the early hours of the following day, the same vehicle was abandoned at a Weedons Road address in Kingsthorpe, where a Toyota Landcruiser was stolen.

Once again Doidge was released on bail but the court was told he failed to comply with his conditions and he was arrested on March 30 where he was found in possession of 0.2g of methylamphetamine and 37g of cannabis.

Doidge’s solicitor Ryan McCullough told the court his client struggled with an addiction to methylamphetamine at the time of the offences.

Mr McCullough said his client had “engaged with a negative peer group” that saw him expelled from high school, but the 65 days he had spent in pre-sentence custody was an “eye opener” to him that there were serious consequences to his actions.

Acting magistrate Roger Stark said the community was sick of people stealing cars and breaking into homes to steal keys.

Doidge was jailed for 12 months, with a parole release date set at June 29.
