An 18-year-old man is in custody charged with causing grievous bodily harm after a wild melee in Crows Nest overnight.

Toowoomba Detective Senior Sergeant Paul McCusker said police would allege that two men visited an address about 10pm and confronted the occupants.

“Police will allege one of the males was armed with a golf club, and police believe there had been a previous dispute between the parties,” he said.

The two alleged intruders entered the home and an altercation ensued where a 60-year-old man suffered injuries to his jaw and face.

Police will further allege that during the scuffle, an 18-year-old man who lived at the address confronted the alleged intruders and a fight occurred.

“As a result, one of the alleged offenders received minor stab wounds to his back, which were non-life threatening minor cuts,” Senior Sergeant McCusker said.

Both of the alleged offender fled the address.

A short time later Queensland Ambulance Service paramedics were called to a nearby street where they treated the 18-year-old alleged intruder, who had been stabbed.

He was taken to Toowoomba Hospital and arrested.

Police have charged the man with common assault, grievous bodily harm, entering a dwelling with intent, assault occasioning bodily harm and stealing.

The matter remains under investigation with police working to locate the second alleged intruder.
