A 26-year-old man once accused of shooting another man on a Warwick street in broad daylight but had that charge dropped after the “victim” refused to co-operate with police is to be sentenced on more than 30 other offences.

Jackson Bruce Watson was not required to be in Toowoomba Magistrates Court on Friday when his charges were mentioned but was represented by Belle Dore Lawyers solicitor Amelia Watson-Black who appeared before the court by phone.

She told the court the prosecution would be withdrawing two of the charges after which Mr Watson would plead guilty to the remaining matters.

Mr Watson’s charges include two counts of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, two counts of evasion, three counts of disqualified driving, 10 counts of unlawful use of a motor vehicle, three of unlawful use of a motor vehicle wilfully destroyed, damaged or removed, unlawful possession of a weapon, three of stealing and two of possessing dangerous drugs.

Ms Watson-Black asked that her client’s sentence be adjourned to the Warwick Magistrates Court so his family could be present at the sentence hearing.

Acting Magistrate Kay Ryan therefore remanded Mr Watson in custody and adjourned the matters to the Warwick Magistrates Court on March 13 when a date for a “lengthy plea” will be set.
