The Toowoomba Regional Council released footage of a woman arrested by police after she abused a lifeguard at the Milne Bay Aquatic Centre.
Captured by CCTV, the incident began with a male lifeguard refusing the woman entry to the pool because she was intoxicated.
She becomes aggressive before spitting on the lifeguard’s face and then pushing through a barrier, to gain entry.
Again she is seen to refuse the lifeguards directions.
Police were called and they escorted the woman out of the centre.
The video was released as part of an ongoing campaign by the council to reduce the frequency of abuse suffered by workers.
“Unfortunately, over recent years, our people have been subjected to almost 200 incidents of abuse or harassment from members of the public,” a council spokesman said.
“Our people are our greatest asset, and they have a right to do their work free from intimidation, abuse and threats, regardless of what job they’re performing.”
