Jury finds Toowoomba man Philip Jeffrey not guilty of rape
A jury has cleared a Toowoomba business owner accused of raping and sexually assaulting a woman returning a verdict of not guilty following the man’s trial for the alleged sex crime.

A Toowoomba man on trial for the alleged rape and sexual assault of a Darling Downs woman has been found not guilty.
Philip Albert Jeffrey fronted Toowoomba District Court on Monday, May 20, and pleaded not guilty to raping and sexually assaulting the woman.
The jury found the former Aramex Toowoomba regional franchise owner not guilty on Thursday, May 23, following a two-day trial.
It took the members of the community about 89 minutes to reach a unanimous verdict.
During trial, the jury heard evidence from the alleged victim, the woman’s mother, and her former partner who she was in a relationship with at the time of the alleged offending, and two police officers involved in the case.
At the time of the alleged incident Mr Jeffrey was working for Fastway Couriers, now known as Aramex Australia.
