Three girls armed with sledgehammers left Glenvale Convenience Plus owner Adam Sack with a frustrating repair bill after they attempted to smash their way into his store, about 10.30pm on Wednesday night.

ADAM Sack has thanked the stranger who alerted his staff and the police when three teenage girls attempted to break into his store, armed with sledgehammers.

The girls used the tools to pry open the security doors at several businesses near the corner of Glenvale Road and Greenwattle Street, about 10.30pm on Wednesday.

The included Mr Sack’s store, Convenience Plus.

“They didn’t get in thankfully, but they did damage the security screen on our drive through window,” Mr Sack said.

“I don’t know why they did it, it was directly under lights.

“They tried all the doors but couldn’t get in.”

The teens damaged the lock on the rear door of Hair We R, forcing the store owner to buy a replacement.

Mr Sack said the vandalism would have been worse if a member of the public had not alerted the authorities.

“I thanked him very much,” he said.

“He was just a young bloke, but he saw the girls and they ran off.

“The police responded very quickly.

“One unit stayed here to secure the property while another two went searching for the girls.

“We have had attempted breaks in the past, but nothing like this.”

Police are investigating the vandalism.
