A Toowoomba woman sent sexual images of her ex-boyfriend to his mother and stalked the woman he had been having an affair with after their relationship went sour, a court has been told.

Shirley Nancy Squires appeared in Toowoomba District Court on Monday where she pleaded guilty to stalking and distributing intimate images without consent.

The court was told the 32-year-old turned to technology in an attempt at reprisal after she discovered her boyfriend was having a sexual relationship with another woman.

Crown prosecutor Shontelle Petrie said in an act of revenge Squires sent sexually explicit images of her ex-boyfriend to his mother, and then harassed and stalked the second woman over Facebook messenger for five days in a two month period with repeated threats.

The victim of the stalking charge read to the court a statement that as a result of the threats she now lived her life in fear.

“Since this has happened I have been so scared I no longer feel safe in my own house,” the victim told the court.

“I even hide under my table because I am scared of people knocking on my door at night. I only feel safe if I have someone else with me.

“I am so scared I am constantly on edge. I want to be left alone and I want to be able to live my life.

“I thought she was my friend but really she is not.”

The sentence hearing was adjourned to November 24 for the defence to gather further material. Judge Deborah Richards granted a restraining order for the protection of the victim.
