Rebecca-Lee Faye Hill threw shoe at a cop and smuggled chicken wings in her bra

A 35-year-old was nabbed smuggling meat and hair products out of a supermarket. She’s now fronted court for her crimes, including throwing a shoe at police.

A woman who threw a shoe at a police officer and was found with stolen chicken wings in her bra has been placed on probation to address her issues.

Rebecca-Lee Faye Hill was at the Gympie Hospital on the night of June 8 when she became agitated, Toowoomba Magistrates Court heard.

While hospital staff were trying to find her accommodation for the night, the 35-year-old became frustrated to the point she hurled a shoe at a senior constable, striking the officer on the arm, police prosecutor Rohan Brewster-Webb told the court.

Then on July 14, a police foot patrol in Woolloongabba had been called to a supermarket where Hill was suspected of having walked off with some hot chicken wings from a nearby Woolworths store.

She told police “I just gave it back to the lady in there” but was found with chicken wings in her bra and hair dye in her underwear, Mr Brewster-Webb said.

Hill had failed to appear in court in Gympie but turned herself into police in Toowoomba on Sunday where she spent the night in the watch house before appearing in court on Monday to plead guilty to all charges.

Duty solicitor Chelsea Saldumbide, of McConnell Saldumbide Lawyers, told the court Hill had been in the Gympie area to see her children.

She had taken the chicken wings for no other reason than she had no money at the time, she said.

Her client had been at the hospital at that time because she had just been assaulted, Ms Saldumbide said.

Magistrate Kay Phillipson took into account Hill’s “extensive criminal history” and that fact she had spent a night in custody and placed her on seven months probation.
