It has been more than two weeks since respected Toowoomba psychologist Frances Crawford was found dead at her Upper Lockyer home under circumstances that police are treating as suspicious.

Police appeal for information about mystery death

Police are continuing to probe the death of Frances Crawford, two weeks after she passed away under suspicious circumstances at her Upper Lockyer home.

Emergency services located the Toowoomba psychologist dead at her home about 3am on July 30 after her husband Robert Crawford phoned triple-0 to report the matter.

It was initially reported that Ms Crawford died from injuries she suffered when a ride-on lawnmower rolled down an embankment.

Whether this was in fact the case is now the subject of the police investigation.

Darling Downs Detective Acting-Inspector Jason Kito said it would take some time to work through the matter.

“It is still under investigation,” he said.

Mr Crawford is a Royal Australian Air Force Squadron Leader at Amberley Air Base, west of Ipswich.

He has had a decorated career in the RAAF and his LinkedIn profile lists several roles, including stints as a test pilot.

He was featured in several promotional media campaigns for the Department of Defence, but those images have since been removed from the department’s official image library.

There is no suggestion that Mr Crawford was involved in his wife’s death.

Speaking shortly after Ms Crawford’s body was found by police and paramedics, Southern Region Detective Superintendent George Marchesini revealed that Robert Crawford phoned emergency services.

“Since that time we have not been able to determine a cause (of Ms Crawford’s death), hence why we have determined this matter to be suspicious,” Superintendent Marchesini said.

Police have confirmed Ms Crawford was last seen alive on the afternoon of July 29.

Superintendent Marchesini said Mr Crawford was assisting police with their inquiries.

Anyone with information about Ms Crawford’s death should phone Policelink on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
