Toowoomba police are searching for two males who fled after officers spiked a stolen Volkswagen Golf’s tyres.

Darling Downs City Patrol Group Inspector Paul James said police were alerted to the stolen vehicle about 3am on Thursday after the occupants attempted to refuel at the 7 Eleven service station in Highfields.

“The console attendant shut down the pump and they were prevented from getting fuel,” he said.

Police tracked the vehicle to Harlaxton where they deployed a spike trap and deflated the vehicle’s tyres.

It was located in Hillside Street, Rockville, a short time later and the dog squad was able to track and arrest a female passenger.

“The two males, including the driver, got away,” Insp James said.

The woman was charged with one count of unlawful use of a motor vehicle and was held in custody to face the Toowoomba Magistrates Court on Thursday.

Police are making inquiries to locate the two males and anyone with information about the matter should phone Policelink on 131 444.
