Toowoomba police are working to identifying the owner of a matching set of pearl jewellery that was found in a filing cabinet after a burglary
“The jewellery set from Tidal Elegance, based in Broome, was only recently found in unusual circumstances,” Sergeant Jason Steinhardt said.
“The finder had been subject to a burglary offence in October 2022 and only recently discovered the items in the bottom draw of a filing cabinet.”
Police believed the thieves had accidentally dropped the jewellery in their hasty search of the filing cabinet.
The second set of items is a pair of war medals, World War I Stars awarded to William Joseph Dempsey for service in either France or Belgium and second medal award to R W Thomas.
They have recently been handed to the Toowoomba RSL.
Anyone who recognises the items should phone Sergeant Steinhardt on 4631 6333.
