POLICE have arrested a man in connection to a brutal CBD robbery that left one victim needing to replace five teeth.

Toowoomba Detective Senior Sergeant Paul McCusker said police would allege two 26-year-old complainants were at a Toowoomba hotel about 3.30am on June 2 when they engaged with the two offenders.

The men left the bar and were walking near the intersection of Ruthven Street and Herries Street when they were confronted by the two alleged offenders.

“They were dragged into a lane, held against their will and physically assaulted,” Sgt McCusker said.

The alleged offenders stole a jacket and demanded that complainants hand over their phones.

“As a result of the assault, one of the males complainants received extensive damage to his teeth – he lost five teeth – and suffered cuts and abrasions,” Sgt McCusker said.

Police will also allege one the offenders stomped on one of the complainants.

The complainants were transported to the Toowoomba Hospital after the assault where one of the victims received extensive dental treatment.

On Sunday, police raided a Middle Ridge home and arrested 19-year-old Reech David Deng Amol.

He was held in custody overnight and faced Toowoomba Magistrates Court yesterday charged with two counts of robbery, two counts of deprivation of liberty and a raft of unrelated offences.

Mr Amol’s matter was briefly mentioned in the Toowoomba Magistrates Court yesterday.

He remained in the watch house as duty lawyer Alysha Jacobsen made a formal request for CCTV footage of the incident with a view to make an application for bail.

Mr Amol was not required to enter a plea and the matter was adjourned to today.

“Police will continue to investigate the matter to identify and locate the co-offender,” Sgt McCusker said.

Anyone with information about the offence should phone Policelink on 131 444.
