Police have renewed calls for residents to ensure their car keys are secure after thieves broke into three Toowoomba homes, stealing four vehicles while their victims slept.
Sometime between late Tuesday night and early Wednesday morning an unknown group of offenders forced entry to a home in Dylan Court, in Darling Heights.
Toowoomba CB Acting-Detective Senior Sergeant Tony Morris said they stole a set of keys and attempted to take off with a car park in the garage, but got stuck.
“They abandoned the car in the driveway,” he said.
The offenders when entered two nearby homes, in Stenner St and Tony Court, stealing two vehicles from each residence.
They dumped one after a short joy ride, while the three remaining vehicles are still outstanding for.
The include a Green Toyota RAV4 (981 WPQ) a silver Kia Sportage (930ZTI) and a black Nissan Micra Hatch (834CQW).
“Investigations are ongoing, but time and location supports the notion that the same groups of offenders are involved in all three break ins,” Sgt Morris said.
“We are encouraging the public to do its bit to lock up and ensure they keys are secure while we identify and locate the offenders.”
Anyone with information about the break in, or has knowledge of the vehicles’ location is asked to phone Policelink on 131 444.
