A 33-year-old woman will face court on Thursday, charged with setting fire to two properties and killing a dog.

Police will allege that the woman set fire to a Hill Street building on Tuesday afternoon.

There were several occupants inside at the time and they escaped unharmed.

A short time later the Queensland Fire Department crews were called to a blaze at Hume Street address.

They arrived to find a shed well alight with a dog trapped inside.

Sadly it perished in the flames.

Both incidents resulted in significant damage, with the Hume Street shed completely destroyed.

The woman was arrested on Wednesday and held in police custody overnight.

She is charged with two counts each of burglary with intent and arson, along with one count of serious animal cruelty.
