Polair footage shows the moment police nab alleged Porsche thieves

Police have release dramatic footage taken from the Polair chopper as they tracked a pair of alleged car thieves across Wilsonton.

Police have released vision of Randall Kyle Shillingsworth, 27 and his alleged co-offender after they were arrested for their alleged involvement in the theft of a Porsche Macan from a Mount Lofty home.

Police will allege the sports car was stolen from a Mount Lofty home early Monday morning.

It was observed by police about 12.30pm on Monday near the intersection of Long and Ruthven Streets in Toowoomba.

As police approached the vehicle it allegedly mounted the kerb and sped from the scene.

Throughout the afternoon police received multiple calls from members of the public in relation to a black SUV being driven dangerously.

About 5pm Tuesday police, including a Polair helicopter crew, observed the car enter an apartment complex on Tor Street, Wilsonton, where two people exited and walked to a nearby residence.

Two men were taken into custody without incident a short time later.

A further two men were also arrested after police allegedly linked them to the car.

Shillingsworth was charged with one count each of unlawful use of motor vehicle, driving without a licence, receiving tainted property and burglary.

He fronted the Toowoomba Magistrates Court today.

The court head he was on parole at the time of the alleged offences and he was held overnight while the parole board made a decision on whether it would return him to jail.

A 22-year-old Harristown man was also charged with one count each of unlawful use of motor vehicle, receiving tainted property and driving without a licence.

Frank James Cheeks, 28, pleaded guilty to unlawful use of a motor vehicle on the grounds he had been a passenger in the car.

His solicitor Joe Millican told the court Cheeks was walking to town to report on parole when associates in the Porsche pulled up and asked him if he wanted a lift.

Cheeks had been in the car for just 10 minutes before being dropped off, he said. Acting Magistrate Roger Stark sentenced Cheeks to three months in jail, suspended for 12 months.

Brandon Duncan, 24, was granted bail on strict conditions including a 9pm to 6am curfew. His matters were adjourned to August 4.
