One of three people charged in the alleged stabbing and attempted armed robbery of an 18-year-old homeless man in Toowoomba has had his case adjourned in the city’s Magistrates Court.

Oakey 18-year-old Mullenjarly Pitt has been charged with attempted robbery, possession of a knife in a public place and unlawfully wounding another arising from the alleged incident near the Neil St Bus Interchange on the night of February 16.

Police claim Mr Pitt and a 19-year-old man and a 14-year-old boy had approached the complainant in a lane near the bus interchange, with the 19-year-old allegedly wielding a hunting knife.

It is further alleged the complainant teen sustained a knife wound to the upper chest.

None of the accused has as yet been required to enter any pleas to their respective charges.

Mr Pitt’s solicitor Chelsea Saldumbide, of McConnell Saldumbide Lawyers, told the court on Friday that she was still waiting for medical material from the prosecution before the case could proceed to registry committal to take it up to the higher court.

Police prosecutor Rohan Brewster-Webb said the arresting officer had been pressing the doctor concerned for the medical report on the complainant which was needed to prove the allegation of wounding as to whether the knife penetrated the skin.

So far that officer’s requests had gone unanswered, he said.

Ms Saldumbide submitted that in the absence of the medical report, it could be the matter remained to be heard in the Magistrates Court jurisdiction and not proceed to the higher court.

Magistrate Louise Shephard directed that the medical material and relevant statements be disclosed to the defence by June 23 and adjourned the case for mention back in the same court on June 30.
