Men to face court, charged with growing almost 100 cannabis plants

Almost 100 plants and an illegal gun were seized by detectives when they raided a Toowoomba region drug farm powered by solar panels.

A man and woman will face court charged with a range of drug and weapons offences after police raided a property at the weekend and seized more than 100 cannabis plants.

Toowoomba Criminal Investigation Branch Detective Acting Senior-Sergeant Kate Brunton said the illicit operation was ‘sophisticated’ with 42 plants growing in two tents that were outfitted with lights, extraction fans and irrigation, and powered by solar panels.

“There was great work by Crows Nest police in locating and dismantling a cannabis grow house in the Ravensbourne area on Saturday,” she said.

Police located a further 57 cannabis plants and seedlings in a fenced enclosure at the rear of the property.

All up police seized 99 plants, 30 seedlings and a bolt-action rifle.

A 24-year-old man and a 28-year-old woman were arrested and released on bail to appear in the Toowoomba Magistrates Court on separate dates in November.
