A teenage boy has admitted to seriously injuring a Toowoomba man in a home invasion only months before he came of age.
The 18-year-old boy pleaded guilty to grievous bodily harm alongside two other charges after he seriously injured a Toowoomba man in a home invasion in March of this year.
The boy was 17 at the time of the offence and will be sentenced within the Childrens Court of Queensland.
His barrister Nathan Edridge asked Youth Justice to prepare a presentence report and engage in interviews with the defendant to determine an appropriate sentence.
Mr Edridge then requested the boy appear in person at sentencing.
The young boy questioned whether he could remain in prison and appear via videolink on the next occasion.
“I just want to be sentenced by videolink because I don’t want to be travelling to Toowoomba for court, spending the night there and coming back to jail,” the boy said.
“I understand, you talk to your lawyers about that,” presiding Judge David Lynch said.
Judge David Lynch ruled a presentence report be delivered in time for sentencing on October 30, 2024.
