A charge of attempted murder against a 46-year-old Rockville man accused of running over another man with his vehicle has been adjourned in Toowoomba Magistrates Court.

Jonathan Wright is accused by police of ramming another vehicle while driving down the Toowoomba Range on November 30, 2022, before running that car into a ditch at Withcott.

Police claim Mr Wright then did a U-turn and drove back to the other vehicle where 33-year-old Paul Sia had just alighted from the passenger door.

It is alleged Mr Wright then drove over him, leaving Mr Sia with critical injuries from which he died a week later in a Brisbane hospital.

Mr Wright has not as yet been required to enter any pleas to the charges which include attempted murder, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, two counts of endangering the safety of a person in a vehicle with intent, and a number of drug related matters.

He was not required to be in Toowoomba Magistrates Court when his matters were mentioned on Friday, March 17, and has remained in custody since his arrest the day after the alleged incidents of November 30.

On previous court mentions of the case it had been reported that the defence was still waiting for further evidence including a neurologist surgeon’s report.

Magistrate Louise Shephard remanded Mr Wright in custody and adjourned the case for mention back in the same court on April 14.

Mr Wright will be excused from attending court for that mention.
