Police will allege a 16-year-old girl was high on drugs when she crashed a stolen Hyundai Elantra in North Toowoomba.
The girl was arrested at the scene and held in the Toowoomba watch house overnight to face the Childrens Court today.
Police have charged the girl with 10 offences.
They include two counts each of stealing and dishonestly making off without paying.
She is further charged with one count each of possessing the dangerous drug cannabis, failing to provide a specimen of breath, evading police, dangerous operation of a vehicle, operation of a motor vehicle while adversely affected by an intoxicating substance and unlawful use of a motor vehicle.
A Queensland Police spokeswoman said the girl was observed behind the wheel of the stolen Hyundai when she fled the Metro Petroleum service station in Russell about 11am on Thursday.
Several members of the public contacted police after the girl was sighted swerving in and out of oncoming traffic on Ruthven Street about an hour later.
Police deployed a spike trap, successfully deflated the car’s tyres and brought to a stop at the corner of Ruthven Street and Robinson Street, in North Toowoomba.
The vehicle was stolen from a Kingston Street address, early Thursday.
