Four women have been caught on camera trading blows during a wild melee outside Clifford Gardens Shopping Centre in a video that has taken social media by storm.

The video starts with two women grappling each other, before one rains punches on the other.

The woman on the receiving end drops her handbag which is picked up by her assailant.

After a brief scuffle a third woman emerges from some nearby bushes and grabs the handbag but they are promptly joined by a fourth woman.

Despite holding on to a toddler, the fourth woman also tried to pull the handbag away.

As the scuffle ends the women walk off together.

Darling Downs City Patrol Group Acting Inspector Paula Smithard said police were called to the incident but that the parties had dispersed by the time they arrived.

“It appears that a complaint has not been made by any party,” she said.

The video was published on Facebook and has since caused quite a stir across a number of community pages.

“Always the best entertainment at Clifford Gardens,” Andy White said.

“How embarrassing, glad we don’t live there anymore,” Jillien Roche said.

“Nothing like a good ole scrag fight,” Darren Cox said.

“What a proud moment,” Jamie Chant said.

“What I want to know is WHAT’S IN THE BAG??!! They all want it,” Jayne Anderson said.

“Where was the help of all those people around and no one helped what is going on with today’s society,” Dan Derksen said.

“What’s wrong with people? Let’s not intervene and help the poor mother and friend whose handbag is being stolen. We will film an assault and upload it for laughs. Disgraceful,” May Bell said.

“You’re starting to get to the stage where you don’t wanna go out. I get worried because I’m an older person but I have my daughter with me so I’m a little bit safer but this is getting ridiculous,” Bear Heather said.
