Fire investigation to determine cause of Harristown house blaze

A crime scene has been declared after a Harristown house fire, with authorities investigating how the blaze started speaking to a number of young people. Details here.

A police investigation is underway to determined the cause of a fire that has damaged a Harristown home, with police declaring the house a crime scene.

Emergency services responded to the Glenvale Rd structure fire which about 7.52pm Thursday night, after reports smoke was coming from one of the bedrooms of the house.

A Queensland Police Service spokeswoman said when Queensland Fire and Emergency Service crews arrived they reported flames were visible in the house.

A number of fire crews, as well as police and paramedics, were in attendance at the scene.

A Queensland Ambulance Service spokesperson said two children were assessed at the scene of the structure fire, with both patients uninjured and not requiring transport to hospital.

Crews remained on standby for QFES.

Officers from the Toowoomba Child Protection Investigation Unit will assist QFES fire investigators in determining the cause of the fire. 

It is understood they have spoken to several young people.
