A Darling Heights man charged with attempted murder and arson after a house fire that left him with serious burns has had his case adjourned again in the Toowoomba Magistrates Court.

Christopher Mark Grosser was burned in the fire that gutted the house in Darling Heights just after midnight February 13, 2021.

The 38-year-old was not required to attend court on Friday where he was represented by his solicitor Phil Stainton of Legal Aid Queensland’s Toowoomba office.

Grosser was initially held in custody in hospital, where he was taken for treatment for burns after being found by emergency services near the burning home about 2am that day.

A 43-year-old woman found out the front of the Quinlan Court home was also taken to hospital with serious head and torso wounds.

It was believed she had been stabbed but had since made good physical recovery.

Grosser was charged during a bedside court hearing days after the fire with one count each of attempted murder and arson, as well as one count of possessing dangerous drugs and one count of possessing a schedule 1 drug in a quantity exceeding schedule 3 but less than schedule 4.

He has not as yet been required to enter pleas to the charges.

He was eventually granted bail in September 2021 when the court was told no Queensland jail could accommodate him due to his extensive injuries, and that holding him in hospital could arguably be against his human rights.

He was granted bail to live with and be cared for by his family at a Brisbane residence.

Mr Stainton told the court he was waiting for a response from the prosecution on whether a committal hearing with cross examination would be granted.

Magistrate Clare Kelly adjourned the case for mention back in the same court on December 18.
