ONE of two men charged with murder relating to the death of a 53-year-old North Toowoomba man has had his matters adjourned by the city’s Magistrates Court.
William John Currey, 32, was not required to be in court on Thursday when his case was mentioned but his solicitor Michael Corbin sought and was granted an adjournment.
Mr Corbin said he’d received some police material that he had requested but asked for an adjournment so Currey could provide further instructions to the defence.
Currey and Aaron John Leslie Bunt, 29, have each been charged with murder arising from the death of Len Andrew Hegarty who was found dead in a Ruthven St, North Toowoomba, home on Christmas Eve last year.
Police claim the deceased had been assaulted.
Neither accused man has been required to enter any pleas to their respective charges and both have been remanded in custody since their arrests in December.
Acting Magistrate Kay Ryan adjourned Currey’s case for mention back in the same court on May 6 and remanded him in custody.
Bunt’s case is progressing through the court as is that of co-accused Debbie Jane Richards, 33, who has been charged with being an accessory after the fact of murder.
She has not been required as yet to enter any plea to her charges and she also remains in custody.
