Aaron John Leslie Bunt and William John Currey have murder charges mentioned in Toowoomba court

Two men charged with murder following an alleged Christmas Eve bashing have had their case stalled due to an incomplete pathology report. The case is now moving forward.

More than 13 months after his body was found in a Ruthven Street house, the pathology report relating to the death of Len Andrew Hegarty had at last been completed.

However, the case against two men charged with his murder would have to wait until that pathology report was reviewed, police prosecutor Bettina Trenear told Toowoomba Magistrates Court on Thursday.

Ms Trenear said the report had to be reviewed and asked for a further adjournment of one month so that could be done.

Aaron John Leslie Bunt, 29, and William John Currey, 32, have been held in custody since their arrest in January 2022 on a charge of murder arising from the death of Mr Hegarty, whose body was found in a North Toowoomba home about Christmas Eve 2021.

Police claim Mr Hegarty died of injuries sustained in an alleged assault at the home in the days prior.

Debbie Jane Richards, 33, has been charged with being an accessory after the fact of murder relating to Mr Hegarty’s death.

She remains on Supreme Court bail and was not required to be in court when her matter was mentioned shortly before Mr Bunt and Mr Currey’s cases were mentioned in the same court.

None of the three have as yet been required to enter any pleas to their respective charges.

Magistrate Kay Phillipson enlarged Ms Richards’ bail and remanded Mr Bunt and Mr Currey in custody and adjourned the case for mention back in the same court on March 23 by which time it was expected the pathology report would have been made available.
