Survey finds singles who use emoji get more sex

NO wonder they always have a smiley face — people who use emoji get more sex. *winks*

SINGLES who use emoji get more sex, according a survey finding which also explains why emoji lovers always have smiley faces.

The Match.com survey of more than 5600 people found that 54 per cent of emoji users had sex in 2014 compared to 31 per cent of singles who did not have sex.

The survey, which claims to be the demographically representative of the US population, also found that 64 per cent of men and 46 per cent of women who use emojis get regular sex, although that mismatched figure suggests that some of those emoji-loving men are having sex by themselves, the emoji-loving women have more partners than emoji-loving men or that people will say anything on a survey when asked about either emoji or sex, or both.

The Singles in America survey says the most commonly used emoji is the wink, which is used 53 per cent of the time. Given the week Prime Minister Tony Abbott is having, perhaps the news that winking can be sexy might cheer him up.

Filling out the top three most popular emoji are the smiley at 38 per cent and the kiss at 27 per cent.

Interestingly the survey found three emoji singles would never use in emoji flirting to include a picture of lips. So, funny face making a kiss is good, but lips by themselves is bad — singles take note.

Also, an emoji you never want to use when flirting, according to the survey, is a monkey with its hands over its eyes. So much for the Tarzan role play or turning to emoji to convey a message that your monkey needs some spanking.

Single men are more likely to use a face blowing a kiss or heart eyes while single women are more likely to use a smiley face (clearly single women have no idea about originality) or a pair of lips (clearly single women haven’t read this survey, yet).

One of the most common reasons singles use emoji, according to the survey, is that it’s easier to express feeling.

Just think how much better Pride and Prejudice could have been if only Jane Austen had written her novels on a smartphone.
