Australia’s beloved Nokia “brick” phones have been re-imagined by the technology giant with the launch of a new range heavily inspired by the old-school classics.

The brand, owned by HMD Global, announced the launch of three new “feature phones” this week, spruiking them as suitable for less tech savvy consumers and those keen to separate themselves from the demands of their smart phones.

One of the new offerings, the Nokia 5710, is equipped with a feature lacking among even the most expensive of smart phones – built in wireless headphones.

The $149 device charges the headphones behind a sliding cover on the back of the phone when they’re not in use, making it harder for them to be lost and their battery to drain.

The phone also operates as an MP3 player when users insert a MicroSD card and it can last up to 31 days on a single charge.

Along with its modern headphones, which are compatible with other devices, the phone has FM radio, uses the 4G network and has Bluetooth.

Another of the new feature phones is Nokia’s latest flip phone – the Nokia 2660 Flip.

The phone has features likely to be attractive to hard of hearing users with it having Hearing Aid Compatibility alongside a big display screen and large buttons.

It too has a huge battery life and is quipped with an emergency button feature, allowing users to easily alert emergency contacts in situations of distress.

The flip phone is also $149 and comes with a charging cradle.

The third of the latest feature launch is the 8210 4G, which Nokia said was a true “throwback to the classic” brick.

They cost between $129 and $149 and can operate as a MP3 player.

It can also be used as an MP3 player with the addition of a MicroSD card, and its FM radio can be played either through headphones or through its speaker.

Each of the three feature phones have a 0.3 megapixel rear camera and a range of classic games including Snake, Tetris, Arrow Master and Air Strike.
