Apple has responded to emerging safety concerns around the iPhone 15’s rapid power drain, overheating and battery bulge.

In a concerning turn of events for Apple enthusiasts everywhere, users of the latest iPhone 15 models have reported unexpected issues, from overheating, power drain and bulging batteries.

Many have taken to social media platforms to voice their concerns, with the most common problem being rapid battery drain following the release of these devices.

With over a million views, the post gained significant attention, leading to a broader conversation about the performance of the newly released iPhone 15 and iPhone Pro.

“Yes !! Mine is lasting for no more than 2 hours from 100pc,” said one user, while another claimed that even on low power mode, battery life was draining “crazy fast”.

Others quickly reminded Warner that battery issues seem to occur “every year after the launch [of a new iPhone].”

To make matters worse, a Reddit user with the username u/Leather_Cheerio_402 shared their alarming experience with the iPhone 15 Pro — a bulging battery.

The Reddit post garnered plenty of online attention, raising concerns about the safety of these devices, with many urging the original poster to seek a replacement promptly due to the potential dangers associated with an expanding battery, including the risk of fires.

Fortunately, it seems that Verizon – where the phone was purchased from – has stepped in to offer replacements for affected devices.

Apple, in response to these emerging issues, has attributed the problems to a software bug and certain popular apps, such as Instagram and Uber, causing the iPhone 15 models to heat up excessively.

In a statement, Apple acknowledged it has “identified a few conditions which can cause iPhone to run warmer than expected.”

The statement further elaborated on the issue, stating, “The device may feel warmer during the first few days after setting up or restoring the device because of increased background activity.”

Apple also addressed the presence of a bug in iOS 17 that has been affecting some users, assuring it will be addressed in an upcoming software update.

Additionally, the statement highlighted another issue related to recent updates to third-party apps, which have been overloading the system.

Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has suggested the overheating issue might be linked to the physical build of the iPhone 15, specifically the use of titanium material for the casing. This has raised questions about heat dissipation measures in the new design.

While it’s not uncommon for new iPhones to generate some heat during initial use or data restoration, the reports regarding the iPhone 15 models indicate issues beyond the usual range.

Fortunately, Apple clarified these problems are unrelated to the sleek titanium casing and the transition to the USB-C port, addressing speculations on these fronts.

Moreover, Apple will not be reducing the performance of the A17 Pro chip as part of the temperature-related bug fix.
