THE Chronicle looks back at the standour performances of the weekend.

WE’RE shining a spotlight on the best performances of the weekend.

Our highlights this week include a big game from a key Mountaineers player, two hat-tricks from talented footballers and dynamic team performance in Aussie rules.

SYD HUME (BASKETBALL)

Playing in his first QSL game of the season, Hume didn’t miss a beat as he played valuable minutes off the bench in the Mountaineers’ big win over the Seahawks.

In 20 minutes of court time, Hume added 13 points (3/5 FG, 7/10 FT), five rebounds, two steals and played some crucial defence in the paint alongside Will Mitchell to prevent any chance of a North Gold Coast comeback.

ALEX HINCH (RUGBY LEAGUE)

Played plenty of reserve grade in 2019, but showed he is up to the A-grade standard with an impressive showing on the wing as Valleys downed Gatton in the Volunteers Cup.

He scored a hat-trick of tries late in the second half to put the game beyond doubt, showing some nice finishing skills in the process as the Roosters flexed their muscles with their left-hand side attack.

BOMBERS BACKLINE (AUSSIE RULES)

They had everything bar the kitchen sink thrown at them in the final quarter, but the South Toowoomba women’s side managed to hold on to down the Toowoomba Tigers by one.

Their backline in particular stood firm as they gripped on to a narrow advantage, finding enough in the tank to hang on and move to within a win of top spot.

JOE SCOTT (FOOTBALL)

The young SWQ Thunder striker admits his form in front of a goal wasn’t the best following the FQPL season restart.

Scott has found his shooting in the last three games though.

A hat-trick against Southside Eagles at the weekend took his total to six goals in his last three games.

Scott’s decisive runs created headaches for the Eagles defence and he capitalised on the space and time given to him.

SARAH SHERIDAN (FOOTBALL)

Sheridan has been a consistent threat in front of goal for Rockville Rovers this season.

At the weekend took her goalscoring tally to eight in as many games.

Sheridan opened the scoring in the 11th minute in her side’s 3-1 win against Hawks.

She fired her side back into the lead in the 67th, ten minutes after Melony Baker drew level, and added a third with three minutes remaining.

Baker’s strike also took her tally to eight goals from the same amount of games.
