UFC debutant Mike Malott ends Mickey Gall in ‘nasty’ faceplant KO

Canadian Mike Malott knocked his rival out with one of the most savage finishes at UFC but couldn’t help but let that Canadian kindness shine through.

The UFC 273 card has got off to just the start fights fans like to see as UFC debutant Mike Malott KOed Mickey Gall in a brilliant first round finish.

With blood pouring out of his nose, Malott landed a right behind Gall’s ear before a shocking left that saw his opponent faceplant hard on the canvas.

It was a stunning end and an brilliant statement on debut.

As the commentators erupted, Joe Rogan could be heard saying “oh my goodness” in the background.

“Wow, wow, what a left hook,” Rogan said.

Paul Felder added: “Not too shabby at all. That was a left hook right, right on the button and folded Mickey. Woo.”

Social media lost it for the moment.

UFC middleweight Julian Marquez tweeted: “That Malott hook is absolutely disgusting! Oof!”

MMA Fighting’s Mike Heck added: “Wow! That was nasty from Mike Malott.”

ESPN’s Marc Raimondi wrote: “My goodness, that left hook. Mike Malott!”

But Malott wasn’t done, directing fans to his Instagram after the fight, donating his show money of $10,000 to a friend who’s 15-year-old daughter was diagnosed with stage three lymphoma.

He finished he would donate it to: “Help this beautiful family through this time and kick cancer’s a**. F**k cancer.”

Malott revealed in his press conference later that 10 fans had already donated a wad of cash to help out.

“This is a cutthroat sport... but once that fight’s over, we’re a passionate, caring community,” he said. “We help one another.”

Social media star Jake Paul then took to social media to pay tribute to Malott and take a shot at UFC boss Dana White over the pay for fighters.

“@Michael_Malott, congrats on the win. Count me and @Boxingbullies in for $10K. F*** cancer and f*** s****y fighter pay,” he wrote.

It was a brilliant KO and a perfect way to kick off the stacked UFC 273 card which features title fights between bantamweights Aljamain Sterling and Petr Yan and featherweight champion Aussie Alex Volkanovski and The Korean Zombie Jung Chan-sung.
