Toowoomba Hockey has launched an investigation into the alleged racial vilification of players at a junior game.
It’s understood players and spectators have been left shocked and upset by racism they witnessed being directed at juniors during a game on May 11.
In a statement supplied to this masthead, THA confirmed a formal complaint regarding an alleged ‘derogatory remark’ led to the investigation.
“THA can confirm that there has been a formal complaint made in a recent club game regarding an alleged derogatory remark. This matter is being taken very seriously, and we cannot make any further comment as the matter is currently under investigation,” the statement read.
The statement was provided by THA after inquiries made by this masthead to Hockey Queensland.
The inquiry was the result of information supplied by a member of the public who alleged the derogatory remark may have been racist in nature and occurred during a junior hockey match.
