RUGBY LEAGUE: Toowoomba has named a star-studded squad of players to mix it with Brisbane Wests next month.

A 44-player squad was announced yesterday with two Clydesdales teams to represent the region on February 16 at Father Ranger Oval in Warwick, prior to the Brisbane Broncos trial match against Intrust Super Cup team, Souths Logan Magpies.

Defending premiers Valleys was the team with the greatest representation with eight players, including John McDonald Medal winner Cory McGrady.

Preliminary finalists Highfields was well rewarded for their strong form in 2018 with seven players named in the squad, while last year's runners up Wattles will see six players suit up in Clydesdales colours.

After playing a trial match for the Brisbane Broncos last year, former Queensland U16s player Travis Turnbull has been named after making his return to Valleys this season.

Clydesdales U20s player of the year Jazz Namana, who will line up with Southern Suburbs in 2019, was also named in the squad.

The pre-season fixtures against two Brisbane Wests sides will be used as the main selection games ahead of the TRL All Stars vs South West Emus match at Clive Berghofer Stadium on February 23.

The South West Emus claimed victory last year in a thriller.
