The 50+ star netballers from annual Laura Geitz Cup revealed
From across the Darling Downs and beyond the region’s best student netballers were on court for the Laura Geitz Cup. Here’s our look at the 50+ players who shone for their team and all the action from courtside.

South West Queensland and the Darling Downs’ best school netballers were on court for the Laura Geitz Cup at the weekend.
With the Queensland Firebirds and Australia Diamonds legend courtside for some of the games the action was exciting and passionate.
Nearly 30 teams were in action across courts at The Glennie School and St Mary’s Toowoomba.
With another successful cup wrapped up for the season here’s our look at the players who showed great skill, sportsmanship and passion on and off the court.
Isobel Lavery (Toowoomba Anglican School)
Showing great movement in skill in the shooting circle, Isobel played through pain to be the team’s top goal shooter.
Her grit and determination to play on proved herself to be a true team player.
Sophie Tickell (Toowoomba Anglican School)
Sophie was a standout player seamlessly moving the ball down the court and linking the mid-court.
She read the play beautifully, often intercepting the ball and forcing turnovers.
Elle Middleton (Toowoomba Anglican School)
Once again, Elle has shown that she is an integraal part of the team.
Working hard in defence, she made some spectacular intercepts and rebounds. What a joy to watch her in action.
Bree Darmody (Scots PGC)
Bree was a defensive star, creating crucial turnovers that swung the game in her team’s favour. Her sharp game sense in the centre third helped her make pinpoint passes, control the game’s rhythm and showcase her clever tactics.
Chloe Patterson (Scots PGC)
The young shooter, really stepped up her game as the competition went on, growing in confidence and sinking some crucial shots.
Her improving form was a big boost for the team.
Charlotte Stevens (Scots PGC)
A defensive dynamo, always giving 100 per cent and making game-changing interceptions that really made a difference.
Her energy and commitment were inspiring.
Ella Hutchison (Scots PGC)
Proved that dynamite indeed comes in small packages.
She was a force on the court, securing crucial centre passes and delivering pinpoint feeds to the shooters, setting them up for success.
Nevaeh French-Welldon (Tara Shire State College)
Nevaeh’s quick decision-making and team-first mentality showed great leadership and positivity ensuring the other girls felt confident and supported all day.
Anastasia Reay (Tara Shire State College)
Anastasia showed excellent sportsmanship on and off the court, while remaining a fierce competitor.
Her balanced approach highlights her strength as both a player and a teammate.
Kiarnah Lane (Tara Shire State College)
Kiarnah may have never played netball before but when she got on that court, she proved that size does not matter- resilience and determination is all you need to succeed.
Her unwavering resilience and tenacity turned her into a standout player, showing everyone that heart truly makes all the difference.
Elexis Walton (Tara Shire State College)
Elexis showed great perseverance on the netball court, always remaining positive and focused, even during the toughest matches.
Her relentless drive and optimistic attitude inspired her teammates to keep pushing.
Libby Coom and Abby Keating (Chinchilla SHS)
Drawing on their regular club netball experience Libby and Abby were leaders on and off the court.
They played out of position to allow our other girls to play where they felt most comfortable and offered help to those who were playing for the first time.
Brydie Stober and Brydee Moore (Chinchilla SHS)
New to the sport but fitting in nicely the star duo gave it thier all and never looked out of place on the court.
Both players produced a number of quality intercepts in the centre court area.

A driving force who always supports her teammates.

Isabella’s versatility and humble nature make her a real asset.

A dynamic and hardworking player, Lula dominates in the centre position with exceptional speed and endurance.
Her ability to control the court and transition between attack and defence makes her a key member of the junior team.
Miranda Childs (Our Lady of Southern Cross College)
The goalkeeper and defender showed an exceptional ability to read the play and create crucial turnovers.
She was nearly impenetrable, and every missed goal by the opposition was swiftly punished with her outstanding rebounding skills.
